I used that when I had to swap dizzys in my car. Advance gave me one with I think a 15L and 20L arm. I was pissed, so I went through the old one and tore out all the wieghts and springs and swapped em for the 10L arm. Works great.

        Heres another good one too

You'll find one in the snow!!
Speed cost....how fast u wanna go??

It's not how much hp u have...
It's how much hp u can put to the track...

Let's seperate the men from the boys and put that power to the track using street tires and stock suspension components

            Recurve

Bear in mind that the article was written with lighter weight cars like Stangs in mind. With our heavy cars, 35* all in at 2500 rpms is a little too quick.
A better timing curve may be all in closer to 4000 for a mild engine in our heavy cars.
CRANE makes a spring kit that includes an adj. vacuum adv. The stock setting is what worked best in the drag car.

i got nates new distributor apart now......the one that came with the motor was out of my 78 cougar, the vac advance screws were rusted and snapped......reman duraspark dist was 54 bucks with tax.......ok this one has a 15l and a 10 arm like the one that was in the car, now the 78 dist was set on 15 l and it had two heavy orange springs.....the reman one has a heavy and a light spring..........should i leave the arm at 15l or move it to 10l?
with the stock light spring that's in the reman (like i said the old dist had 2 heavy springs) and the yellow spring they say full advance at 3800 rpm.......should i just leave the stock springs and it set at 15l?.........that's 40 deg of total timing, and prob just over 4,000 rpm max?

40deg is too much. You want 34 to 36 max. total, including initial, all in 3800 to 4000 rpm. That is what seems to work best with these heavy cars.

If you can get that by using factory components, all the better. Save the co$t of buying aftermarket spring kits.
