Yeah, because Ford is cheap-ass and refused to put good heads on them The LS1 heads flow like toilets!

They also (LS1) have a stronger block and roller cam bearings. Great motors.

There's always been lots of "borrowing" going on between the various manu's though........

Siamesed exhaust ports? the notorious SBC trait..........Found a year earlier on the Ford Y-Block..........

Oh and I love the "technology" crap that the imports get credit for. Overhead cams........ HAHAHAHHAHAH 1960's 427 SOHC (cammer) or the 302 Indy Cammer from around the same era......... GM had Fuel Injection on the Vette back in the day, and there were the Hillborn setups...... Ford had sequential EFI in 86, Honda was still using carburetors............

Variable valve timing was used back on STEAM engines as early as 1914 in Great Britain

None of this crap is NEW, but slap a name on it like "DOHC VTEC" and all of a sudden its a technology marvel............

I bet for the whopping one season they ran (and won) that the Torino Talledega with the BOSS 429 under the hood would have been quite the sight to see in NASCAR..............

I agree completely. I have to admit my exploder motor runs great, Still not much compared to an LS1

The first DOHC motor was back in the early 1900's...And not japanese.

I think you need to check your math. The Camaro was introduced as a 67 model, so add 35 years and you get an 02 model. They axed the Camaro/Firebird after the 02 model. There are no 03 models.
