    Stroker Kits--Recommended Brands?

Some time in the future I'm thinking I might build up a 393 stroker for the CV, and I was wondering what brands I should look at. Eagle and Scat seem to be the two most common brands. Are they any good? Any brands to look for or to avoid?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Go with SCAT, nothing wrong with Eagle, but they were using some sub-par metal a few years ago.

SCAT seems like it's higher priced, so I kinda figured that it might be the better one.

I have a Scat 4340 4" stroke crank and H-beam rods. Other than a little bit on the oil pump area of the block, we didnt have to notch any other part of the block or cylinders.

RIP Jason P Harril, we'll miss ya bro

That's encouraging. I'm not planning to stroke it that far, so I probably wouldn't have to do any notching at all.

Too bad there aren't any actual American-made stroker kits, kind of sucks that all the casting is done in China on the majority of them

You could always buy a Callais crank, you know if you want to buy a $3000 crank that is only marginally better than a SCAT crank.

Exactly. Its pathetic that there aren't any AFFORDABLE American kits.

First. How will this engine be used?
Will it be a daily driver that will rarely see more than 5K rpms?
or a NOS fed race engine that will spend much of its life at 6500 and above?

A ddriver does not need to be fully forged. That is $$ that can be used other places like heads.

                    Look some of these over:

Some of the local performance machine shops have had pkg/shipping problems with SCAT. No prob. with quality.

EAGLE, dispite some past forging prob., still come highly recommended.

It's not how much hp u have...
It's how much hp u can put to the track...

Let's seperate the men from the boys and put that power to the track using street tires and stock suspension components

Daily driver, at least for now. I know that with the longer stroke, it decreases my top RPM limit, but with what I'm planning to use the car for, it really doesn't matter.

                      Thanks for the info.
