Yeah, fixed the wiring, believe it or not still doesn't start though. I'm going to take a fresh look at her tomorrow, I may be just needing to adjust the timing now.

Of course now you could be 180 degrees off with the correct firing order

now with the wiring fixed I could finally do some diagnosis, it was the injectors. I got a set of 19lb design 2's coming.

Sticking were they? I got a set of the "4-hole" style ones at the wreckers out out a 97 Grand Marquis.

They are supposed to have a better spray pattern, which means better fuel atomization and cleaner combustion. They SEEM to work OK

Thanks to everyone who helped, she runs so well now. I had a little electrical issue when I snapped her together but it is fixed now.

Did everyone know that the cars with the heated windshield option (instaclear) got a special 100 amp external regualtor alternator? and that even the the plugs match up, an internal regulator 65 bwill not charge the system without a rewire? Anyway, I put the 100amper back on and rewired the regulator and it is tits. the HO cam is a bad mf-er.

Hmm, the only instaclear car I've ever seen had an external regulator 100 amp with totally different plugs than the POS 65 amp alt. This was on an 89 CV.

*Sigh* as I wonder how to tell if it's got a heated windshield...

Teh '82's got a 100 amp externally regulated factory, but I don't know why. Towing Package maybe... or heated windshield.

Not sure what the '87 has, it's tag says HD, which I thought to mean heavy duty, but it's internally regulated.

Back in '82 I know there were two different 65amp's, one was a side terminal and one was a rear terminal. There was a 40 amp version too that year so be glad if you have a 65... it could be worse.

Look at the defrost switch, the picture is a bit different if its an instaclear car. unfortunately I can't exactly describe how its different, only that it is. Isn't that helpful? There is also a box forward of the battery for the high voltage stuff.
