Nope. I guess it's possible that there is a insanely small difference if you have no exhaust after them, but They really don't change anything.
I did not notice any change in exhaust sound from stock manifolds to stock mustang shorties to equal length MAC shorties.
Anyway, you don't put performance parts on for the sound...You put them on for performance- with the exception of mufflers.Builder/Owner of Badass Panther Wagons

The way it sounds is all opinion. Apparently ricers think that fan cans sound good, why is beyond me. People say after a while glasspacks start to sound worse because the glass melts. Just see for yourself.88 Town Car (wrecked, for sale)

if you don't mind that the car would blat after you cet the car hot and go through a puddle and shatter the glass in the glass packs and want to replace them alot .............I really don't like them they don't do much for performance....the way I shop for a straight through muffler is I look to see if they are made from woven stainless steel packing and have a perforated core instead of that cheese grater shtuff. I am hearing good stuff about the bullets though.

I've gone from manifolds, to stock shorties, to flowtechs, to shorties again, and I noticed that between shorties and flowtechs, the flowtechs are slightly louder. But I also have an HO conversion sooo......1989 Lincoln Town Car - "Anabelle" - Original block, .030 over with SpeedPro pistons, rods fitted with ARP hardware, FRPP +volume oil pump, GT-40 3bar heads, Crane 1.72 rockers, 89' Fox cam, 93' Cobra lower intake, Explorer upper and 65mm TB, 93' Lightning EGR spacer, K&N intake kit from a 4.0L Ranger, 19lb/hr injectors w/ 87 Mark VII ECM, cat/smog deletes, Big Brake conversion, 3.55 K-Code Trac-Lok/Disc brake rear axle, CVPI LCA's w/1" sway bar in rear, wagon front sway bar, BBK 2.5" off-road H-Pipe, Flowmaster super 40s, HPP wheels, 3G alternator w/LMR.com wiring kit, gear reduction starter conversion, Best 1/4 time: 16.0 @ 85mph.

First thing you do with glasspacks is get em hot and hit em with a water hose to make em sound better. Duh. I like the sound of hollowed out glasspacks.1989 Grand Marquis LS

No its not. Glasspack acts like a reverberation chamber allowing the pulses to collide with each other and allow for the popping noise you hear.1989 Grand Marquis LS
