Looks like the exact same pump I have, summit parts are pretty much rebranded parts. I wouldnt be suprised if they were the same. If you are going mechanical then when you take off the timing cover, you are gonna have to hog out the boss for the pump rod. Also I would be willing to bet you need to buy a pump eccentric for it too since its a 88.

Electric pumps are nicer imo. They arent too loud anymore either. My mechanical pump is really close the the PS pump and oil filter and required reclocking the inlets and outlets of the pump. And when you do that it puts the fuel line really close tho the frame. You have to make a really sharp bend to get the line in the pump, and make sure you dont kink it.

it's sounds gay when you have a carb...LOL

I suppose this fuel pump will suffice...

Holy Crap1 Those Demon's are expensive!
I'll go with the Edelbrock or maybe Holley...
I think the cam will neeedd a longer dowel pin and definately a pump eccentric. I have an excentric and possibly a front cover. What Gerry and I fear is running lean at top end without 3/8 or 1/2 inch lines running from the tank and a proper flow pump.

Yup, Slydawg had to replace his lines because he was leaning out. That was with a carb and approx 300Hp

Stock lines with FI wouldnt work with this engine build.

Go for it, Colin! I am VERY satisfied with my carb swap.

IT is pretty simple to do, and tune, but of course I like tinkering with things.

You can make more power, cheaper.

Its true mang, I thought it would be alot more work but it went quick. Theres alot of stuff that needs replaced but if you source your parts right, you can do it for alot less $$ than if everything was new. Look on corral, carbd ford, racing junk or even ebay for used intakes and such.

Oh, and theres nothing like that 4bbl whine when you get on it.

so should I get 3/8 fuel lines or 1/2?
is there any drawback to having 1/2? more expensive? less gas mileage? anything like that?
and...what's a fuel pump eccentric? pretend that I don't know everything there is to know about engines...LOL
on a scale from 1-10 in engine knowledge, I'm prolly about a 8.3

oh! and is there anything else I should upgrade/replace while I have the engine out of the car and apart? like a water pump or anything?
I found this alluminum water pump on summit..would I be helping my motor by putting this in?

You would be ok using 3/8 line with a mechanical pump or a carb specific electric one. 1/2 would give you room to grow if youre gonna make your car a high HP screamer. They say 3/8 line is good to around 400 hp.

A fuel pump eccentric is a like a cam lobe that bolts to the cam gear that drives the fuel pump pushrod up and down. If your gonna use a mechanical pump, you need one of those.

That water pump doesnt look like anything special. I picked up a reman aluminum water pump exactly like that at Federated Auto parts for $19.

Might want to throw in a better cam and either some gt40p heads or ported e7's for some fun

since you have the motor out id go ahead and replace the water pump, unless you already have a newer aluminum pump on there. Also replace the oil pump. they only run about $25. Much easier to replace it while the motor is already out of the car. Ask Phayzer about doing it in car.

sounds like a pretty hot motor.

If its coming out, give it a once over, hone, some new pistons, new bearings, rings, lifters, oil pump, water pump, freeze plugs, timing chain, lifters and paint it real nice. that way its like a brand new motor.

will that work for a water pump?

                                thanks for the list, Mercmarquis!
                                I needed that!
