It's all good, it took me awhile to figure out all the abbreviations too. If you feel like thread digging, there's a thread in "Panther Muscle" about the supercharged motor I want to build from junkyard parts.

If you aren't getting silly with the nitrous you can use the hyper pistons, but I don't know how they hold up to boost. The earlier shortblock should have better pistons, but the Exploder heads in stock form are far better than stock e7 heads. You might check around on Corral to see what those guys have to say about the hyper pistons. The same things were used in 93 and later 5.0 Mustangs.

$175 is a steal!!! At 45,000 miles, it is barely broken in..... The pistons are flat top with valve reliefs. They give you a slight boost in compression over a Mustang motor. I spray the shit out of mine and have no problems. 87-92 HO motors have forged pistons which are very strong and take ALOT of abuse. Unless you plan on spraying over a 175 shot, the hypereutectic pistons are fine and you do NOT need forged.
Bolt on Gt40's and use E7's for ballast....

I'm assuming that the forged pistons would be fine with 6-7 psi of boost?

acccording to the mustang guys who blow up 302s, the stock block is goop up to 400HP. anything after that a dart block would be best used.
The key about your statement is the guys who "blow up" Mustang short blocks. Don't listen to those guys. 400HP is a joke for a roller 302 block. They are good for 500+ HP. Guys that can't tune a motor and have severe detonation are the ones who break blocks at lower power levels. FRPP states that a roller 302 is good for 450HP without a girdle and they are being conservative.
