    How about these heads?

how about a set of 1977 351/400M heads? How are they performance wise. Ran across them on Craigslist for $40. Now that I have my truck the Merc can get alittle more attention.

They are crap, and you can't run them on a 5.0L without a lot of work and a custom intake or intake adapters ($$$$$ ).

Alright, I was just curious. Wasn't sure about the "m" going on a windsor.

The "M" heads are basically Cleveland 2V heads with the emission crap added. Cleveland heads can be mounted on a Windsor block. But with the available Windsor style heads it's just not worth the cost and effort.

Yep, what he said. Possible, but not really worth the trouble. If you had a set of Aussie 2v Cleveland heads, that would be worth the trouble but not the big chamber late 70s M family heads. On thier original engines, they're really not bad. With a cam and intake change, those motors can make serious power with the stock heads, but they do have a large chamber for lower compression. The port design is pretty good though, and the flow is also good. Its just not really worth all the trouble to make them work on a windsor motor.
