Yeah it can work, but I bought an engine like that and it was bored .080 Im not shitting you. Couldnt keep it cool and spun a bearing. Of course I beat the hell out of it also, but still they aint that great.Chris - A 20th Century Man \m/ ^.^ \m/

Probably does not need it. Boring would only be done if the cylinder bore is out of spec. It should be punched out only enough to make it true again and to the next avaliable oversize piston. Unless you have problems with the current engine, I wouldn't say you need to rebuild it. Costs to rebuild a motor vary hugely, depending on who does it, how many hours they will charge, and what exactly needs to be done. It also depends what you have done.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

One million dollars. Can't possibly cost more than that.
More realistic, a complete reman engine is probably maybe 2k, and if you'd be paying someone to do the rebuild work, you'd be better off buying a reman longblock and having it installed vs rebuilding the existing engine. Its cheaper and usually has a warranty. Probably 4500 would be on the high side of what I'd expect to see quoted for a reman longblock, and a 4bbl swap.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
