This isn't a Panther question but it is a 5.8L question. I picked up a 4x4 with a bad motor(5.8L ) so I'm swapping in a good engine out of my other F250(also a 5.8L ). They both have the air injection in the exhaust manifolds and many hard lines and hoses all over the engine. Will removing the airpump/air injection cause any problems? I have to change the valve cover gaskets so I have to remove all the crap anyways.

no problems, just will set a code for the air pump system, will not cause any adverse driveability problems.........ditched tons of the dual smog pump setups on 351 trucks for the stiped airtubes to the manifolds rotted out
1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt

This is going in a truck that weighs 6,000-6,500 pounds and will be pulling loads up to 8500 pounds. The cat is rusted thru so it's getting chucked along with the stock muffler. I've got a pair of 2 1/2" Hooker aerochamber mufflers I'm going to run. I really want to get rid of all the air injection crap.

351 smog controls are horrible. Waaaay too much BS on them. The carb engines are worse though. I had to work on an 87 4bbl 351, dual smog pumps and about a mile of vacuum hose. It had been screwed with, and it would blow fireballs and black clouds out of the exhaust. I ripped all that BS off and it ran much better.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
