I've had one overheat and crack the block, I had one lower unit explode, another one the ignition module wires just broke right off at the module while I was running it and left me stranded. The jet boat we own has never once run properly and nobody can figure it out. Its been nothing but a money pit and I have yet to have a day of running out of it. Even the brand new 35 hp motor we bought had random running problems. It would sputter and miss sometimes while running. It was intermittent to the point of not being traceable.

Shear pins are a piece of cake. I did blow one on the only outboard I've never had trouble with (4 hp Yamaha) but it was no big deal to change. The engine has a spot for spares on it, so I have two shear pins and two cotter pins on hand in case one breaks.

My inboard engines have had thier share of bs problems, but I've been able to fix them usually while on the water and in fairly short order, or at least I've been able to rig it enough to get us home / somewhere I could get a part.

Eh. Never had many problems with outboards. Jet boats are junk imo. I could probably fix it if I was up there. Not many good marine mechanics out there.

Its a Force 90 hp power head. Runs on 2 cylinders. Compression, spark, and fuel supply are fine. I've moved the coils around, moved the carbs around, no change. Top cylinder doesn't do anything. I suspect either the stator is fried, or the ignition module is cooked. If neither of those, I'm totally clueless. Nobody wants to work on it either.
