i was going down a back highway today going about 80 kph when the car lost all power no matter how much i pressed the gas it just kept slowing down and would not speed up and the rps would not go up above idle speed, but when i put it in nutral and reved it a couple times it slowly came back, and ran fine so i made it home,,, well i just went out and dident even get 2 blocks away from home and it started doing it at 45 kph but even worse and when it came back it only lasted about 50 secs before it did it again, so i got it home and took the air cleaner off and gave it a few shots of gas and the carb seems to be working beacuse i can see gas going in,,, any ideas? fule filter maybie? or somthing else?

This sounds like a textbook case of a clogged fuel filter. The engine will start and run fine for awhile, and then it'll start to run more and more poorly. Shut it off for awhile and the cycle starts all over again.
Does this car have a fuel filter in the fuel lines or is it like mine where it has a screen filter at the inlet of the carburetor? If it has one at the carb inlet, that's probably your problem.
If it doesn't already have an inline fuel filter, you would be wise to add one. Cuts down on carb rebuilds...

yeah starved for fuel, clogged filter or maybe fuel pump dying. replace the filter, and if it acts up again check the fuel pressure. should be like 3-5 psi.

Perhapse you are suffering from a rare condition, like the ones I often encountered with a particular car often.
One time my car kept doing the same thing to eventually get no gas at all but the pedal felt funnyat the end of the destruction. Ofcourse you would have to be as silly as me to not notice your pedal being funny.
I checked under the pedal and found the cable had lost it's thingy, I wrapped it in duck tape enough to get to tha garage and he hooked me up with a new thingy (sorry about the lack of termonoligy, but it's the best I can do). It was just a little plastic thing that was placed between the front of the pedal and the end of the cable. Without that peice I was pushing but the cable was not pulling enough. I drove for that for like a week until it went, it must have been broken but hanging on there until it completely fell out.
Good Luck!
