Probably some bypass check valve buzzing or something, maybe pushing the tv bumped the pressure up and made the check valve open or shut instead of rattling?

GL, was that before or after you install the shift kit?

Uhm, dunno then. There really aren't any loose valves, especially after the kit goes in (you know, all those extra springs you add), but who knows. I still think at least mine is a linkage problem, as it wasn't there before the floor shifter, and it almost goes away when I put my hand on the shifter and apply a slight force in either direction.

I dont really mean the valve is loose per se, just perhaps a check valve that is recieving just enough pressure to be trying to open ever so slightly, and its vibrating in it's socket. Your issue could be something totally different than the noise we get.

Well I don't know if you've ever looked at an AOD valvebody, but there are some balls in it that seem perfect candidates for your theory, and IIRC they don't even have springs to preload them. But yeah, my buzz may be different than yours, tho even if I have what yall guys have I probably won't be able to hear it over the exhaust rumble.

Im just wondering if any one knows why a transmission would make a buzzing noise in park, onece and a while when i put my car in park it will buzz and as soon as i put it in gear the buzzing noise will go a way, my transmission works fine and all, and the fluid level is full..
There's a theme here...if anyone didn't catch it! Seems to be 1985 AOD's for the most part, with an 84 in the mix.

I'll chime in and say BOTH of my '85 boxes did this! I have a shift kit in my current '85 and it still buzzes when going into park and sitting a few seconds or if I'm driving a bit then I start coasting, like into a parking spot.

I remember my old '85 did this too...but my '87s did not! Ford did something to the trans in those years...it's inexplainable by me.

                    my merc does that buzzing...
it goes away if I press the gas, even slightly, but returns when I'm off the pedal.
but meh, I've gotten used to it.

My '89 does it, but not consistently.

I don't recall if it did it before the shift kit (?).

I did some internet searching a while back, and didn't find anything helpful.

So, I've also decided to ignore it.

I have an 86 with an 88 transmission, and it does it sometimes, so its definitely not limited to 1985 or even old trannys. Mine was rebuilt, has maybe 10k on it. MrLTD's car is an 89, not sure exactly what that trans is from though.

Didn't read the whole (old) thread, but my 89 GM had the buzz the entire time I had it. Oddly, my 89 TC didn't.

mine does it, when it's warm. I have a vague memory of another car doing it (either the old family Explorer or cabs I rode in when I was young, which would often be boxes). I haven't noticed anything that seems like a valvebody issue with my tranny and it's stood up to untold brutality.
