Big block, part 2: It makes more power, and doesn't weigh much more!

Since I am in the process of building a pro-touring-ish crown vic, I think that maintaining that theme with my merk would kick ass, especailly if I went with a 514

And no, it isn't unrealistic, either...

You could buy 5 or 6(or more ) 514's for the price of the aluminum 427.

Yeah, but 514 is heavier and it's not a 427. Only the best most expensive stuff for Tom.

No a 514 isn't a 427, It makes a lot more torque! So what if it weighs more. If he was building an auto-X car he'd be building a smallblock.

And why would a 514 help me sell my stuff? I'm not shipping my 460! And Tom will most likely want aftermarket heads and a single plane intake.

He was refering to the Crown vic being built as a Pro-touring. The Merc is getting the 514.

The car would be a weekend driver... You ever see the chebby boys? They make pro touring cars outta fullsize cars, with big blocks and overdrive manual transmissions...

They also pull 600 streetable horsepower out of that many cubic inches... It wouldn't cost all that much more to build a 514 with aluminum heads than it would be to find the more rare parts for my cleveland...

I would be concerned about the front end pushing in the middle of a corner. A big block will weigh a lot more then a 302 .........
