Got A H.O Intake, Modify T.B or use longer cables?

Went to the scrapper today to get some interior parts for my car, and ended up coming away with an upper intake off of a 88 VII, with egr, throttle body, everything. Now I had another post about these intakes on here, and mrltd told me to change the throttle body linkage off the stock throttlebody onto the H.O t.b. Melikeystripperchicks said to use different cables and loop them around the front. I just remebered that the bracket that holds the tv and throttle cables were different when I looked at them. So which one is easier, bore the stock egr spacer out and change the linkages, or use the VII egr spacer and different cables? The cheapest/easiest one is best. Some pics of the modifications you have to do to the throttle body would be very helpful

Why didnt you grab the lower while you were at it? Just changing the upper im not too sure in the gains of it.

From what I understand and from what everyone on here has told me, both the H.O and LOPO lower intakes are the same, so theres no point in changing the lower.

The lowers are IDENTICAL. Don't even think of using the intake in the mustang config...It's a hell of alot more complex than just longer cables.

I have bored spacers for sale. Its easy to mod the throttle arm with out welding. Grind the one off the lopo TB. Grind saw the ball off it remove the grommet. get the stem out of it leaving only the holes were the grommet and the ball goes. Cut grind the ball off the HO TB and remove grommet. Use the lopo throttle arm to mark were the new holes go. Drill them the same size. Purchase a throttle linkage ball and stud kit from Holley. Pick the propper size ball and boltit on the arm. Hopfuly one of the grommets is still good pop it in the other hole your done.

so turbo, what you are saying is that your basically switching the tv cable and the throttle cable ball around, or grind the ball off of the HO tb, take out the tv grommet, then lay the lopo tb linkage on top of that one, mark the holes, ect. How much roughly in machine shop charges to bore out the stock egr spacer, and how much are yours?

Its usually around $30-40 to have one bored out. I'd mod the spacer, routing the cables around the front of the intake looks bad (to me) and gives poor geometry. I'd be afraid of having something bind up.

Ya, thats probably the route I will go. Looking at the pics of the longer cables and re-worked linkage on melikeystripperchicks lincoln towncar kinda confused me, and I dont really feel like running cables and screwin around with that stuff. Anyone know a part number for a throttle linkage ball and stud kit like turbo suggests.

I swapped the levers on my car, had no choice really. The 86 throttle lever is unique.

Nah, that's nothing, with the right length of cables it's actually pretty nice - go look at the auto trannies with race shifters, the talk about poor geometry. When I fix up the truck's engine I'm planning on rerouting the slapstick for that very reason.

Junkyard cables with barely enough length to work perfectly fine in a Panther:

                    - throttle - Mark VII, any
                    - tranny - T-bird, AOD-equipped 3.8
                    - cruise - Mark VII, any

Best option ->. ported stock Panther EGR spacer, stock Panther cables.

Basicly if you have the HO throttle body in most cases you can just uuse the lopo for a template. There are others that work but are different.

I'm goin back to the scrapyard and i'm gonna pull another egr spacer off a lopo motor, and maybe another tb, so I can mod everything that needs to be modded and get it all done before its going on the car, so everything bolts right on with no hassles and I can just swap the intakes and have less downtime. If i lived closer to any of you guys that are offering i would gladly just have you modify it properly, but i live in canada in the middle of nowhere, so i gotta figure things out myself. A picture of a modified throttle body would be a great help if anyones got one.
