    MCU got a dianostics connector. Mine is on the passenger side fender well near all the smog junk. It's red and looks similar to a EEC-IV connector, just without the extra external wire (not in the plug). The MCU system is EEC-II.

    As far as being able to pull codes... I've never been successful using several different code pullers. But my MCU situation is a little screwed up. My original MCU had a meltdown, and I managed to find a replacement in an '87 P72 351W (my car is a 302). The '87 wiring was a little different than my car, but it still functions properly. Except for the whole codes things.

    My personal cheapo code puller is supposted to pull the codes, and it gives a list of what the codes are. There are only like 30 possible ones if I remember correctly on EEC-II.

    You can see the diagnostics connector in the picture below, it is the red thing right next to the orange duct tape:
