I used to do Smog checks for California and I had to fail cars if a vac line was disconected and alot of smog tech's test their own cars and thay pass and I had to pass alot of crap cars because the owners do not have the money to pay for proper repairs.

i hate emission employees here, they never speak english (mostly bosnian or romainian). most cars have to pass a dyno test unless it was built before 1981 and these bastards are so careless, i've seen cars come off the rollers before. one car i owned nearly came off the rollers, apperantly the guy didn't understand torque steer in a front wheel drive car and it pulled so far to the left that the tire was at the end of the roller. then they drive the thing like they're trying to extract 1000 horsepower out of it. it's supposed to be a "real world" simulation but who the hell runs full throttle intermittently in city traffic? one time i took my pickup to get emissioned and it passed with no smog pump and an obviously leaking exhaust, another time i took an old datsun, paid $27 for them to fail it because the tail pipe was more than 8 inches from the outermost part of the body. nothing but a big, government funded racket if you ask me.

How about your wheels are they steel? I have run all alum pullys on 9000 rpm engines nerer any issues.
The was on 427 chevy i built that a 9000 rpm straighten out the steel paddles on the alternator and hit the bracket.

Just ordered the crank pully from ASP got the aluminum one. Saved some money and about 3 weeks of waiting time by not having them anodize it. Price around 100.00 that way and 1 week dilivery. Can paint it myself with urathane enamel.

Actually, you wouldnt believe the shitboxes that pass, volkswagon jetta with 650,000km on it blowin blue smoke sounding like theres a jar of marbles floatin around the motor, still passed(not by much mind you) and then the opposite, I had a 2002 nissan sentra fail last week. But employee vehicles always pass But anyways, this is off the topic of underdrive pulleys, so no more posts on here from me, got the info I wanted. Thanks everyone

Lucky for me, any car I drive will pass an emissions test. I run them for a living. Also nice having access to a dyno.

yes, they will bolt to it. The balancers are the same.. Mustang one will still need some spacing. That truck one is way to small.. A stock stang one would probably be enough underdrive. A mustang underdrive will probably be too much underdrive for a vic. Might want to check out a stock truck pulley though.

No, I have no idea how my crank pulleys look like, at all, I have no idea about anything under the hood for that matter... however you look at this:

Still claim it will be 2-3" spacer needed to bolt the Mustang pulley (first pic) instead of the Panther one (second pic)? Then there is always this:

It's a 52% crank pulley for a 5.8 truck engine - will these bolt to our engines?

Mine passed smog without it, but I have fairly new cats. If your cats arent properly functional, you might need that extra air to get it working.
