    Fuel Pump Question.

I just need to know what is the stock ones rating out of a '88 5.0? 255lph? I can get a pump from a '88 2.3 turbo 'Stang for $10 with the tank. What is the rating of the 'Stang's pump and will it work in my Merc?

Stock is 80 lph in a mustang 5.0L. There was never a turbocharged 88 mustang 2.3L. The stock 2.3L is probably around 60lph or less.

The pump will not be a drop in. It will require modification to work in a panther chassis car.

The last year for turbo 2.3 mustangs was 1986, the last year for the Mustang SVO. The turbo 2.3L did live on for 2 more years in the Thunderbird TurboCoupe. It was a tad different than the Mustang SVO's motor.

Well, i'm not completely sure on the body of the 'Stang, it's either a 1986 or a 1988... Either way, it's motor is from a Thunderbird TurboCoupe

What kind of modifcations will need to be made? And what is the typical lph for an '88 5.0?

        Already answered the LPH q....

The mustang pump is a much smaller diameter, and the sock mounts different. You need to make a adapter to fit in the panterh bracket, and modify the panther bracket so you can get the fox pump sock on.

If your motor is stock, it will be a waste of time and effort.

How used is the pump? Unless its fairly new I wouldn't really bother with installing a used fuel pump. Hardly worth the trouble. New ones are not that expensive.

I'm not sure on how new the pump is, but from my view, I have no money for a new pump and this one is free.

Sorry for the confusion MrLTD when refering to the stock 88 5.0 pump I was refering to the LoPo 5.0.
