Thx Mang,.I hope to have some pic's up sometime within the next year, after I get the paint job done.I don't have any good workspace myself eather unfortunatly, allmost all of my work is done in my backyard with the car on jackstands, which was a major PITA while doing the exhaust work.Going from single to dual exhaust really woke up my stock motor, and was definatly worth the effort.

I don't have any flow numbers to show, but on my old 87 which had single exhaust, swapping out the stock muffler with a 2 Chamber flowmaster 30 made a noticeable difference,so they definatly outperform the stock cork.

When Choosing mufflers you want to get a chambered muffler (Baffles),chambered mufflers actually provide more backpressure and scavaging for the engine which = more power and better gas mileage,vs a straight through design like asspacks. The flowmaster 50's are nice and have a more mellow tone and less interior resonance than the 40's.Eather way you go you can't go wrong with a good set of flowmaster's.Everytime I rev up my engine it turns people heads with a confused look on there face, like they are wondering is that sound really coming from that grandpa car, lol.

Ive had both the 40s and the 50's. the 50's are a more hushed tone at part throttle, at idle the 50's were quieter, at WOT they are about the same.

A pair of 2.5" Flowmasters are more than enough to support 500hp.

I really like overall how my car sounds w/ the stock mufflers but I figure if I dont replace them my engine will never be performing up to its true potential. UPS puts BORLA on all their trucks. Gas will be expensive again soon.

            Flowmasta 40s: 1st impressions

Been lucky to have been working alot lately so I went and got some Flowmaster 40s installed today, figured what good are new cats if the mufflers aint flowin for shit (kinda like stereos, what good is any power when the speakers suck). Turns out she had some cheap as hell small and crappy aftermarket mufflers on her. We listened to another comparable muffler from I think Dynomax and the Flowmasters. The 40s sound wicked, are almost quieter at idle, and the performance gains were apparent immediately. Along w/ better acceleration, the engine runs much smoother with better throttle response, and she seemed to coast better/ longer? Cant wait to see what I can do for mpg now. Love me the Flowmaster 40s and that old school muscle car growl.

Understatement of the year. Drove 45 miles total to work and back today (city and highway) and the Magnaflow cats and Flowmaster 40s have made all the difference in the world. Before my gas mileage was almost 1 hwy 0 city and it seemed like the car just wasn't runnin right. Now the engine runs ultra smooth and works better on all fronts. Vacuum related stuff and tranny too. Knock on wood but it looks like Ill be getting 20+ mpg. For anyone who has made all the standard improvements like capn rotor, sparks, wires, pcv valves, etc. and things still aint right, backpressure could be the culprit. I knew replacing the cats and mufflers would help, but this is night and day shit here and could pay for itself real fast considering how bad my mpg was before. Gonna try midgrade gas too now that I got her turned out. Mpg is my new obsession.

Yes,Backpressure is an integral part of an engines ability to run at it's optimum level of power.Amazing how much difference a good muffler can make huh?Now you need a good set of headers, and that thing will be breathing fierce. You will see a nice mpg increase from going to 89 also.
