    Some Muffla Questions

Gonna replace my cats this week, figure the increased mpg will pay for the job eventually. Considering also replacing the stock mufflers (351w w/ dual exhaust). Visually mine are in great shape. I like how they sound, real low and mellow, but Id replace them if it would see my some gains in mpg and/ or perf. Like to keep the same sound if I did replace them.

If they are stock, going to any aftermarket muffler with a decent internal diameter muffler will net big gains. Stock mufflers are like 1-1.5" inside diameter. Just upgrading my single exhaust with a flowmaster made an insane difference.

dynomax and summit turbo's are cheap, quiet and decent quality.

Thrush turbos are also cheap, and look a hell of a lot like my Summit mufflers. I wouldn't be surprised if they're the same.

Same Here,Back when I had single exhaust on my old 87,I also noticed a nice difference just from installing a Flowmaster 30 in place of the stock muffler,my MPG also increased about 1-2mpg.

I love the deep rumbling muscle car sound my Flowmaster Super 40's put out. They go for $79.99 a piece for the 2 1/2in. Super 40's at jegs.com,which is where I got mine from.My car was originally single exhaust,So I deceided to do all the exhaust work myself from the cats on back and weld all the connections myself, which saved me about $250 over going to the exhaust shop.

Nice car Custom 87. I wish I had the workspace to do shit like this myself. How do the Flowmasters flow compared to stock? Am really leaning towards some 50s.

Nice ride C87 and nice work on your exhaust swap, you must have seen a huge improvement in performance. I just wish I had the workspace do shit like this myself. Personally, I really liked the sonund of the 50s. My quastion now is how do Flowmasters flow compared to stock what with all the baffles inside them?
