    EFI 351?

I was just thinking that rather than putting a 4-bbl on my 351 in the CV, a truck EFI setup might work better. Does anybody know anything about doing a swap like this? Would it be as difficult as the Exploder swap? (I don't have time to have the car off the road for nearly a year.) Any opinions, ideas, or advice would be appreciated.

it wont fit under the hood. Unless you can get a cobra lower off a lightning or a boat and use the cobra upper.

yeah, what he said. Aren't there special uppers that are shaped similar to the 5.0 SEFI uppers that are designed to fit on the truck lowers? If so, that might be an option too.

I'm told that the Lightning 5.8 EFI setup will fit. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I know if you go with an aftermarket set up, (edelbrock, Trickflow) you can get their 351 lower and a regular upper and it will be shorter than a truck. Still might have to cut some bracing out of your hood.

You can get the Performance Products Power+Plus intake for the 351W application for a relatively decent price...

Combine this with a close to HO spec cam, 24# injectors, and EEC-4 wiring, and you could probably pull it off.

A lightning motor won't fit, it's been tried. Hood needed to be modified. It uses a standard GT-40 tubular upper. The only type that would fit would be a box type upper, and that'd kill the low end torque that we need....

How much modification do you mean? Cutting holes and adding hood scoops or just removing bracing?

Shit if I could get a Lightning motor to run right, I think a hoodscoop would be a fair price to pay.

Actually what woud work is using a Performer RPM carb intake, and then running an elbow. it would be expensive but it would fit under the sotck hood.
