Honestly, does different filter/tube set-ups really make that big of a difference? Only reason I'm installing this set-up is because I want a different look under the hood and the stock set-up won't fit anymore.

for a restricted engine like that the length of the intake piping probably won't matter, it's the length of the individual intake runners that make difference. You want a long pipe so you can position the air filter away from the hot exhaust manifold.

        Yep,what MLSC said.

Also keep in mind that air Will flow faster down a straight pipe, than a curved one.

but haven't really come up with anything yet.
They got intake pipe heat shield wrap that can be used to reflect the heat coming of the headers...and same go's for header wrap too.

Things picked up today ... 1 roll of 12" x 10' galvanized aluminum flashing, metal snips, rivet gun and rivets. Now, I just need to get my sleepy ass in gear and get it built.

The box I built looks like shit, but I'm considering it a rough draft for a much better version that I'll build when I get time. Essentially, I got a general idea of what I wanted to do. The black pipe fit good after I cut the end off.

told everyone the pipe works good with some cutting. I like the black better than the chrome. You notice any difference?

Haven't had the car out of the garage, yet. Will let you know if I find any changes.

I need to do a much cleaner job of forming the box and cover, but this is functional enough for now.

                        Nice!

I'm gonna improve my box design a little once I get the time, and probably add some sort of scoop to channel air from below up towards the filterbox.

Very nice monty. I am still debating on doing something like that or just keeping the stock airbox cause it already has a "cold air" effect.

looks good monty! I like it!

I dont think I'm gonna run a hood if the 351 doesnt fit good under it, So this way'll get all the cold air I need. I'll cut the hood on my other car for a nice cowl scoop in case I fuck it up.

I gotta go pay someone to bend a pipe up for my ammo-box Idea. I hate paying people to do something I could do if I had access to the right tools. Only option is to hack up the Ingen and find someone who can tig it back together at the angle I need up by the throttle body. I'm goin to the strip this weekend, gonna do a couple passes with the stock airbox assembly in, then a couple runs with my un-boxed injen. Or I may make a temporary cardboard box just for that day, see if there actually is a difference, just for the hell of it.

Any ideas on what to do to the intake pipe to prevent heat soak?
