    GT-40s

Instead of taking the valve springs off my brothers GT-40 heads and swaping them onto my E7s im just going to swap the heads onto mine. They are 351W Marine heads and have slightly larger valves. So hopefully ill pick up the 20HP the valve springs were costing, and 30 or so from the GT-40s. Plus ill be able to run it higher than 4500RPM.

Now i just need to order gaskets and my nitrous plate and get the heads swapped over by the 28th.

on a related note we've gotten the AFR 185s bolted down on his. still need to pull the motor and swap out the oil pump.

and where would I find these e7 heads? I have been interested in doing a head swap and was considering the gt-40's along with new springs and runnin the expoder intake along with the stock ho cam?

havent had much luck in the yards for the gt-40 stuff....

now when you say port the e7's are we talkin gasket match porting or full chamber porting and polish job. how much that usually run? (machine shop)

i can take my own valves, springs, ret and seals out...

I was kidding about the GT40's being crap. I am running GT40's and love the way the car runs. GT40's ca nbe had for 400 and under all the time on corral. They came stock on the old 5.8L lightning trucks, 96 explorers, and 93-95 cobras.

The 185s were gonna be a little too high compression for me and they wont support a 408 very well. Besides they are perfect for his motor, and he would never have bought them if i was not letting him make payments.

Im gonna go with a set of 205's

I port E7 heads. Price varys depending on what you want done and the condition of your heads. Stage 1 port can be as cheep as 500.00. Includes burn and blast, CNC port work, multi angle valve and seat work, guide seals and polished combustion chambers. This gives enough air flow to support 400 HP carbed and around 375 injected.

Stage 2 includes the above plus larger valves, after market retainers and springs runs around 700 to 750. Enough air flow to support in the 475 HP range.

Stage 3 includes all of the above plus better valves, machining for rocker studs, better retaines, springs, guide plates, rocker studs price can very depending on application and parts. Puts air flow in the 500 HP plus range. average cost around 1200.00.

Thats a very respectable number. but the 425hp AFRs are a better number.

AFRs are too big a port for a 302. 351 min for them. There port design is not that good. Better off with Brodex. I have ported them.
