ok, i just swapped tranny's because i thought my old one was shot. but now i'm having the same issues as before. it shifts first and second with no problem, once it hits 3rd it acts like there's not even a gear there same with overdrive. i really dont want to have to pull it out again, the first 2 days it shifted fine, now it's back to shit. my linkage is tight and secure, and it clicks into all gears but no go in 3rd gear. PLEASE HELP!!!! or loan me 2 grand for a newer panther!!

This is probably a stupid question, but have you checked the fluid level? They'll fall out of gear if they're low on juice.

fluid levels are fine. no bubbles on fluid stick either. i dont have a tv cable, i have a tv rod. my dash has this display P RNOD1. if i put it in 1 it will drive, once i upshift into D it wont engage the gear, it will just rev like in nuetral and only catch a gear if i force it to kick down. and if i get it to 55 it wont engage overdrive.

Sounds like you may have gotten a junk transmission. Burnt overdrive is not that uncommon, but burned D and OD isn't as common. Often with fried overdrive, the second gear shift is a little wierd since apparently the OD band is applied during the shift or something.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

This is my little brothers car and I drove it today. I got it up to 50 MPH and it still wouldn't shift into 2nd gear. It has a TV ROD and it;s not adjustable. THe grommet is there and is in decent condition. Tranny level is full and it is not leaking. Any other ideas?"Owning a 9-second Import is like coming out of the closet.... TV rods are adjustable. When they dont shift out of first, usually it means the TV system isn't moving properly. You can also adjust it, instructions here:
