    Where'd all the coolant go?

I just had to check out my former wagon due to the new owner being stranded. He said, the "engine" light came on, it started steaming and then died on him and he had to push it off of the road. He got it home and it sat for a few days until I could look at it. When I got to it, the first thing I check was coolant. It was pretty low... pretty darn low. I added 3 gallons. Afterwards, I started it up and it ran fine. I drove it around for about an hour-- no leaks, no overheating, running perfectly, hot heat from the non-leaking heater. The oil looks fine and dandy, too- no antifreeze in there. How do 3 gallons of coolant dissappear like that?

In the same day I also replaced the RR quarter window and installed a new CD player.

it could be a pinhole somewhere that only leaks when it gets really hot.
It prolly gradually lost little bits then a lot once it started to over heat.

I'd say pinhole...the most pressure is usually when the car has been shut off.

LOL. Only comes on at 7psi O.P. or what? 4,000* C?

And, no, he's just ignorant to the workings of cars. The more I yell at him to take care of it the better he does. He's been keeping it washed and clean and such. He even went out on my recommendation and bought a bottle of armor-all.
