    windshield glare

    Dear Gurus,
My '89 windshield has hundreds of tiny (1mm) scratches from road debris and wipers. This doesn't make any difference unless I'm driving into the sunrise or sunset, at which time, these imperfections reduce the already poor visibility. Can they be polished out somehow or must I replace the windshield?

You might be able to try polishing it with 0000 steel wool and some rainx. I'd try it on a small area on the passenger side to see how it comes out. I think there are glass polishes avaliable but I've never messed with them so no idea how or if they work.

i would get a new windshield donald........i've seen shops buff the scratches out, but the result ends up hazy.........again shame you are so far, theres a glass shop in the town i used to work in that does good work, and gives me good prices.....165 installed for a new windshield......he's making 40 bucks on the job, try to find a price around that range........if you have comprehensive coverage, and a decent sized stone chip, in most cases they will just pay to replace a windshield that is pitted bad
as others said, try cleaning it with 0000 steel wool and glass cleaner first
