An 82 car would have a carb and dura-spark ignition and uses EEC-II. there is very little the computer controls, there fore not much to diagnose.

If you tell us what the problems you are experiencing, maybe we can point you in the right direction to fix it.

What kind of problem are you having?

Lincolns have had CFI (EEC-III) on 302's since 1980, although the 351W 2-bbl prevailed in production numbers.

          EEC-III isn't OBD.

Sorry... I mis-read, thought he said Merk, not Mark.

all my technical manuals show EEC-III starting in 1983 across the board.

OK, where heres the problem. I have been having a WOT bogg (well - sometimes its almost half throttle to get the bogg) since i have bought the car. Timing at one point jumped 2 teeth...so replaced the chain and realigned timing. Distributor points line up with #1 in the distributor. Fuel pressure is correct reading 30 psi ignition on and 35 psi running with no flux. Car will bogg WOT when just started in the morning. Then will gradually worsen as the car warms. I was thinking crankshaft postion sensor...I have done most anything you guys can think of. as you guys have probably saw, its georgeous (the car) and i just want to enjoy it.

Oh and BTW, when it hesitates i get a backfire in the air filter to say as if it were running lean. Its quite the opposite. Its running rich (but no black smoke out the pipe. ) Smells of raw fuel all day long. **Cats are new. fuel pump is new/filter**

the only reason i didnt state my problem was because if noone knows the system i would be wasting my time .. .LOL. Sorry im lazy when it comes to that.

                tHanks in advance!!!

EEc-III . I can guarentee it. The firing order on this car has left and right banks lined up in order LOL. its weird.

Dumb question, but you ever set the timing with a light?

That is a dumb question. The distributor is drilled into the manifold. EEC-III sets the timing .

Just messin with ya...Not many people know that. Timing is non adjustable in these cars...

Looks like it's time to convert to a 4bbl then.

                          It is relatively easy...

What would that do if one of the sensors were to be out of whack? It would eliminate thoes sensors? (IE: Crankshaft position sensor/BMAP/MAP)

Well, if you convert to carb...

ALL sensors are no longer in use. Carb is simplicity at its finest
