    Tranny Troubles!!!

My Lil Bro just bought his first panther and it's stuck in 1st gear. Fluid is clean and full. What to check next? He already wants to junk it I'm talking him out of it.

How hard have you winded the thing out? Mine was missing second gear and wouldn't shift into third until after 30mph.

Make sure the TV rod is hooked up. If its disconnected in a CFI car, it will hold first a reeeeeeeely long time.

AODs are very simple. As long as they are in the correct gear by the shift lever, and the TV linkage works properly, they'll work barring any major internal failure. Most of the time when they have an internal failure, 1,2,3 will work and it will go to neutral instead of hitting overdrive. They can fail in other ways but really there isn't anything outside of the trans that affects how it shifts other than the actual shift lever in the car and the linkage to the throttle body or carb. If it came with a guarantee you should be OK.

i put the new tranny in and the first two days it shifted just fine, 1st, 2nd and 3rd but i didnt get on the highway and test OD. now i'm having the same issues again!!! it will shift 1st 2nd, but it wont acknowledge 3rd or OD. my linkage is fine and i cant think of anything else to check on. the throttle link from carb to tranny is a lil loose but it allows the kick down. i dry shifted the tranny and it shifts into all gears as indicated by the clicks that i heard. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

I'm saying take it to a tranny shop and let them test the TV pressure.
