Went to the store and finally got a spark plug socket/ extension and ponied up for a torque wrench (figured if anyone could over tighten spark plugs it would be me so.....). What should I crank em down to? Thanks in adv.

With iron heads, I usually just crank mine down 'till they feel right... not that that helps you any. Aluminum heads, that's a different story.1990 Country Squire - under restoration

No need really to break out the torque wrench on em.On our 5.0 iron heads just tighten them down until they are just starting to get snug and then give em a half turn.I've never used a TW while installing plugs on iron or aluminium heads and have yet to strip any threads.If you really want to torque them,Factory torque settings are 15-20ft lbs.

I have a 0-180lb/ft torque wrench that I bought for $25 brand new... I asked for the $25 one and he ordered the wrong one but held to their word on the price instead of ordering a new one.
As far as how tight to get 'em... I always go about half a grunt with iron heads.2011 Mustang GT Premium, MT82, Kona/Saddle, HIDs, 3.73s, 19s, hood/side stripes, UPR 1.5" springs with adjustable panhard bar, and UMI solid LCAs and relocation brackets.
1992 Explorer Eddie Bauer, slight lift, 34s, and A/C...
1979 Bronco Custom, 351M/C6/NP205, 4" lift, 35s, lots of fender trimming.

Prolly gonna return it now that it sounds like I really don't need it. Upon further inspection it really isn't well made (Greatneck brand), and prolly too small anyway (short handle, 3/8" ratchet).

Thanks, returned the torque wrench and got a little ratchet and some change and picked up a little packet of that spark plug anti seize crap. Will tighten em till I feel some resistance but wont go ape shit.
