Yea, im going to be adding headers in some time. :-D .

Good god Gadget thats alot of stuff ) Hopefully if i do all that along with the carb swap. it will fix this mess. along with the Valves and heads.

As for performance. im not doing this to go to the drag strip ( At this time ) im doing this becase i am in the understanding that if the timing belt goes bad the cam will prob be bad. so whille im putting a new one in i might as well upgrade it :-D Now if i have to change out alot of other stuff ill just put a stock cam in it though.

Thanks for all the insight though there buddies :-D

    Dark :-D

One more possibility. i thought of.

Question, how much/how hard is it to do the following?

Put a new fly wheel on
      Run new braklines and brakes
      tires...
      Hopfully that be it )

Thanks mang's. Trying to see which be cheaper.

This would be the vic i made the guy buy back due to "It wasent a Boss"
I informed him about Unintentianole fraude in Alabama, and just stated all i want is my cash back. )

      Any how it's a consideration

Why do you need a new flywheel? You have to drop the tranny to get to the flywheel, or leave the tranny in the car and pull the motor. Your choice.

Brake lines aren't that bad to do usually.

Tires, you can do it yourself with some basic items, but it's much easier to pay the shop $10/wheel to mount and balance tires.

You have checked the health of your engine right? Is the compression good, how about hot oil pressure? Is the engine relatively clean inside (aka no gunk in the valve covers)? Does it run quiet?

I woundn't bother opening up the engine if it's tired, you'll see only limited gains. Grab an Explorer Motor and be done with it. That will have a decent cam and good heads already. And you won't even have to open it up. Around here, you can score a good 5.0 Explorer Motor for $500 anyday. Ditch the intakes and other misc stuff and you can easily take off another $100-$150, which can be invested in various seals and gaskets you'll need. So for $500 you have an almost new long block. Buy a used 4-bbl intake and carb for $100. And a Lokar kit for $60, add another $40 for misc expenses and you've got a good $700 motor that should last at least 150K. And it could be cheaper if you shop around.

1996 motor can use any 302 header where 1997+ use the P head compatible headers. I would get the newest lowest mileage motor available and get the P headers.

A cam with those heads is not going to be a huge power gain either. If you were to swap in an Explorer motor with a carb intake, you could leave the cam alone and have a decent engine.

Man im glad i look at old articale's.

Thanks Merc for the info!!!!!!!!. hehe
