    AOD shifting at 4200...lame

hey guys i just put a tach in old anabelle, a sunpro super tach II, and my lincoln shifts at 4200 all the time at WOT. If my knowledge is correct the mustang cam i have makes power till 5500rpm. I have heard a HO governor will fix this. Any ideas?

doesnt changing the governor involve unbolting the transmission from the block and sliding it out?

NO... govenor is in the tailshaft, which makes it rather easy to get to.
support the transmission with a floor jack, remove the drive shaft, trans mount and speedo gear. undo the 6 bolts that hold the tailshaft in and remove it (carefull not to damage the gasket)
Govenor is held on with 2 large phillips head screws, remove those and swap the govenors

Governer and the tailshaft gasket will run you less than $30. The gasket is actually more expensive than the governer is.

Yeah, around 4800. Mine shifted at 5200 I think, but it had a shift kit and the high speed governor.

Get a trans-go hp shift kit with the Hi-rev govenor. I got it, its suppposed to shift around 5500 but I need a tach to know for sure.

Mine with the HO governer shifts about 4700. My old trans would shift about 4800, so I guess somewhere in the 4700-4900 range is a safe bet.

Governor does not have a gasket, or at least every AOD I have worked on has not had one.

Talking about the tailshaft...not the governor
