my '96 ingition

Hey guys, I have a good question need to know how comes my GMQ got black ingition? I have seen '96's got chrome ingition. I have my pic to show you.

In my theories, could be replace by previous owner or recalled by Ford to replaced it???

They switched over to the 8-cut locks partway through 1996, which included the black key guide pictured.
