hey all...
own a 93 Vicky, bought Veterans Day 92 in honor of my mother who had just recently died... with 45 miles.. all these years, nothing major, just replaced trany and cats in '00, just replaced cats again '11, and just minor work inbetween(alternator rebuild, fuel pump/water pump, etc). have a problem that has stumped everyone that has worked on the car in the last year, and this problem is getting worse..
will get to a stop sign/light, as im slowing down car will give a grinding sound, watch as the voltimeter goes haywire, then shuts off. Sometimes no grinding, quiet shut off. It doesnt happen all the time, but there are days where on a cold engine, 5 times in a row. Car starts up immediately. Alternator checks fine, starter checks fine, you name the air /emissions control part its probably been replaced(thanks to CA emission control standards). Think there is some disconnect from fuel/engine/brakes, but been told by three different mechanics that work on older cars(including CV/GM) that they cant figure it out. Forget the dealer, all they did was escort me to the showroom! i guess they figure women dont know anything about cars! all the repair manuals dont have an explanation for this, and the only other thought is that my trany/and or engine is going out. I do have an oil leak, but i dont lose more than a quart over a month, all temp gauges have been checked and if needed replaced.... i want to keep the car, as im doing a slow restoration and will be getting a new/rebuilt engine at some point (car is over 200k)...but this is frustrating me to no end.. any ideas? andrea
