I want to credit Justbob on MM.net for telling me what wires to bypass.
On the 03 GM/CV/MM it is the Wh/Rd which provides fused power to the LCM for Turns & flashers.
The LCM functions as a flasher.
The LB exits the LCM with power that is pulsed.
The LCM also monitors power consumption and provides hyperflash to let you know a bulb is out. This is why it needs to be bypassed.
here is the diagram for an 03 CV/GM/MM
You can just cut the wires anywhere between the multifunction switch and connect them to an electronic flasher.
Since this car is a lowish mile Marauder I wanted to keep the harness intact. Scrounged a male and female connector from a random Continental side marker. This is a 4 wire with round m/f contacts. There are many of these types of connectors on fords in addition to side markers. I believe you could use O2 sensors, temp sensors, ABS speed sensors etc.
Sly told me you pull the red bar in the connector housing and then release the tiny tabs which hold the contacts in the connectors.
Here is the female connector with male contacts mated to a relay block which can hold a flasher. I hooked the flasher X terminal to hot. The L terminal is pulsed.
Here is the male connector with the appropriate two original female connectors removed.
There are 3 square connectors on the back of the LCM. The one you need is on the top so the other two need to come out first. All the release tabs are depress not lift.
Removing the connectors and pulling the two wires and contacts out was a mild PITA. It could be worth removing the gas pedal but I believe you need to do the resynch if you have adjustable pedals.
Here you can see the plug with the 2 wire removed and installed in the "new" round connector with female contacts. The 2nd photos show the relay plugged in.
I neglected to take an after photo but with the LCM reconnected and the relay tie wrapped in place it all looks great under there.
BTW Sylvania and every vehicle bulb finder I looked at shows a wrong listing for the 03-4 Marauder front housing. Marauder has a 3157NAK and a 3156K for the cornering light. Listings show a 3157A & a 194 in error. This may be correct for a Cv or a GM IDK.
The 3157A is a VLED "HIGH VISIBILITY AMBER 50 LED 3157 3157CK 3156" (#3157_50_HV_A)
The 3156 is a VLED "5500K WHITE 50 LED 3156" (#3156_50_W_5.5K)
The 4 bulbs cost $102 with free 2 day delivery. I decided to sample these based on Elias's recommendation. They feel well made.
As other bulbs arrive I will install them and post em up.
