Where the F is this "Flasher Unit"?

Before I start tearing my dashboard apart, I need to confirm this. I have a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis LS and I need to find the flasher unit. I've heard so many thing that i don't even know where to start. I've heard it part of the multi-function switch, above the accelerator pedal, behind the glove box, something about the trunk, and I need one of you professionals to let me know where to find this thing. Thanks.

It's incorporated into the LCM(Lighting Control Module) by your right knee under the dash.

What's going on that you need to find it?

The flasher relay is not replaceable on its own without work.

+1 LCM. right side of the steering column up under the dash... black, very well vented, with 2 or 3 harnesses plugged into the side towards the firewall. Should have 4 relays (black cubes) insude visible through the vent slats. If you are having issues with that... you may need a new one. You might be able to get in on the recall. Get it checked out ASAP. I don't remember what the deadline for the program is.

I here Ford has extended the warranty on most LCM but you need to check with your Ford dealer to be sure !

Since the LCM recall was mentioned, I have to point out:
1 - 2001 is not involved in the relay for the LCM(2003-2005)
2 - the recall doesn't cover the flasher(headlight relay failure only)

I know I asked already but I'll ask again, what is going on that you need to find the flasher?
You can "replace" the flasher by using an external flasher mod that would bypass the one in the LCM if your signals are not working and the internal relay is the problem.
