    1995 GM Door Jamb Switches??

Looked for these on my car and can't find them (unlike on my '87). If they are there, where are they?? A photo, if possible, would help. My chime comes on upon opening the door WITHOUT the key being in the ignition. Thought the switches might be sticking but can't even find them. When I turn the ignition "ears" (without using the key) the chime stops. Possible cause?? Thanks....Bobby

If the door switches were stuck the car would not be able to tell the doors were open so I can not see how the switches would be the problem.

When I have seen that problem it was the contact on the ignition key cylinder. That is what tells the buzzer that the key is in the ignition.

Could be something else. That is what I like about this place there are many good knowledgeable people so a problem can usually be hashed out.

they should be in similar locations in the door jamb near the wire conduit that goes to the body (hinge side).

That's where I looked but only saw the hinges along with the wire conduit.

Would be sweet if someone had a photo. I know what they should look like but NOT seeing them.

Here's the passenger door on my 93. Should be similar. closer to the top hinge on the body near the weather seal.

95' doesn't have any door jam switches. They are built into the door locks.

A door chime that won't quit is due to a sticking/worn out ignition key tumbler/cylinder. Can try lubing it up with some WD-40 or something to see if that helps, but it probably just needs replacing. The door switches are inside of the door latch mechanisms, IIRC.

Thanks guys! At least that explains things. Would agree "the issue" is probably in the cylinder

Yeah, could be somewhat of a "pain" but most likely not my issue. Doesn't look like too much grief if they had to be changed. Have already had the door off but never tried to swap these so who knows???

Probably the ignition cylinder. There is a piece of plastic the holds the chime wire contact, it tends to wear/break. Usually you can tell by jiggling the key cylinder, with the door open. The chime should cut on and off.

Its an easy fix since, the cylinder comes out easy and easily can be re-keyed.
