Headlights + interior lights turning off and on

Last night throughout the night the headlights and interior lights on my 2000 marquis kept turning off and on every few seconds. I had to recharge the battery and I switched the headlight to the off position and the headlights wouldn't turn off and on but the interior lights still were.

I drove to work with the headlights on and no issue with the headlights or interior lights turning off or on while driving, it's just while the car is off. Everything else electrical seems totally fine, it's just starting to do this when the car is turned off. I'm not sure if anyone has experienced this problem and not sure where to start looking to try to fix it. I'm just going to disconnect the battery whenever I park in the meantime to prevent the battery from draining.

LCM or headlamp switch. I'd pull the headlamp switch and see if the BS stops. If it does, it's most likely the headlamp switch.

+1 Didn't think of that but always try to easy stuff first!

Just so you know, If you remove the headlight switch they (headlights) default to ON. As with most Ford things, it switches grounds for the lcm to control lighting modes, no ground sent via the switch LCM turns things on.

oh... right. Well.. if it's constant on, that would also rule out the LCM and point at the switch for crappy connections causing stuff to blink.

Thanks for the responses guys. The problem only happened for 2 days and hasn't come back since and I forgot about it. Unless it happens again I guess I won't really know for sure what caused it.

If the problem is the LCM which it sounds like, Do not throw away your old LCM. They are rebuildable. If you buy a re-manufactured one or a new one it is possible the parts house will want the old one as a core. Better to be safe than sorry..
