My transmission sings a little in 1st gear. Mostly right before changing to second. Is this normal?

All the AOD's I've had have done it. So maybe it's an AOD-E thing too. -
My AOD does too. In fact, every Ford with an auto trans. I have ever been in has been a little whiney in first.Comment

Mine developed a high speed "Whine" just before shifting on power runs. (3/4 to near WOT 1-2 shifts) It started making the noise around 140k though.
