I posted this in the Areo section but it goes for all panthers.

After inserting the spring between the gears I then remove 1 grip which interferes with the ring gear then insert the spring a bit more with the remaining vise grip. When it is in as far as it will go by hand remove the second grip. A small block of wood and a hammer easily does the rest. The trick is to insert it just the right distance. The circle in the spring must exactly match the depression in the spider where the "c" clip needs to live.

I have done this several times and it really makes the job easy for me.

I just beat them in, lol! Gotta hit them just right tho, or they'll try to fly off. And in case of F150 spring, yeah, that thing is pretty brutal, wish I had thought of your method for that one, I think it would have made it a bit easier.

You did install this before dropping the ring gear on, right? Cause the other way is just a pain...

Oh, was it indeed the ABS sensors that were halting progress?

It was indeed the ABS sensor that was excluding progress. By that "H R G" means I could not get the axles in far enough to install the "C" clips with the clutch spring in place.

Also a small other thing, the wheel studs must be it the right position or they are keep the axle from going in all the way as they impinge part of the "E" brake setup. So after removing the abs sensors it may be necessary to rotate the axles to clear the "e" brake hardware and go a bit further in.
