Hey guys, I'm going to be looking into buying snow tires for my daily (97 town car)

What do you guys think about General tire Altimax Arctic?

I just got them. They arrived the day of the night I hit the deer in my '91. I had the snows put on anyway and the car is down in WV getting bodywork/paint taken care of currently.

That always happens, every time when you get new tires

I don't really spin my tires. I don't waste my money on snow tires either. All season tires work fine for me. All these cars really need are weight in the back and a limited slip differential.

Yes, limited slip differential! Would love to have that

I've got Bridgestone WS70 Blizzak snow meats on my TC right now. Got them dirt cheap from tirerack.com... Had I known they were made in Japan I wouldn't have bought them but nonetheless they're on there. Apparently Continental or Michelin make the best snow meats though. I have no first hand experience with snow tires but the people I've talked to that have say they make a huge difference over the typical all seasons.

I have not found a better tire than the Bridgestone Blizzak. I hate what I now have (firestone and Yokohama) and want Blizzaks. I got 72,000 miles and seven winter seasons (5-6 months each year) on the last set.

Love my Winter Forces, cheap and last forever. Also had good luck with Glacier Grips II's.
No seasons are useless around here on snowy days.

I've never bothered with snow tires, and I'm in Canada. Then again, I generally drive only a couple of times a week on average, and I usually get to choose the driving conditions.

                        Dear Panthers,

Almost all my winter driving is interstate - except the 90 minutes from Interstate to farm which may or may not be plowed. I carry chains.

                            Blizzaks FTW.
1990 MGM: $50 E7 heads, HO cam, Holley SysteMAX lower intake, HO upper intake with an Explorer TB. LSC ECM. Lincoln logs into stock dual exhaust. K&N drop in air filter. Wide ratio AOD, 2400 converter with a 3.08 one tire fire out back. Car is less slow now. Then there's the '92 Beater. Dual 2.25" exhaust with shiny tips. Rumbles nice. Super slow. Burns oil too.
