    1997 crown vic

I know this has been beat to death but I can't find information on the pre 98 cars. What mustang rims would fit without spacers? Or 16's that would fit without spacers?

all 98-02 panther wheels should fit with zero issues. Ranger/explorer wheels... same story. 94-04 sn95/5x4.5" FACTORY mustang wheels can be used on -02 panthers, provided a wheel adapter/spacer measuring at ~1/4"+ is used on the front wheels to compensate for increased offset. These are the closest you'll find to a direct fit in 16inch or more wheel size. You can get away without using a spacer with these until you get over 8.5 inch wide I think. YMMV.

If you're willing to use other wheels besides Mustang.
Chrysler has a 17" fanblade that looks identical to 02 fanblades that will bolt right on without spacers.
And they also have a 17" steel wheel that looks a lot like the 17" CVPI wheels on whales that will fit without spacers.
And of course you can always go with Ford 16" HPP's or teardrops.
I've got 18" fanblades from a Mustang on an 02, but they do require spacers.
