    1996 - 2 Issues

Hi Guys -- I have a 1996 Grand Marquis V8 which recently sprung 2 issues.

    1. Does anyone have a guide or diagram they could link up as to what o2 sensor goes where? I gather that there are 4 of them & that they are not interchangable. Would Bank 2 Sensor 2 be the 2nd sensor post-cat? Upstream/downstream? I have never ever touched an o2 sensor before & know very little about them. I have googled the subject & just trying to complete what I know against what I dont.

    2. Over the course of the last week or so, my right rear wheel (at least that is where I believe the sound is coming from) has developed a squeal & a tap ( like a ch-ch-ch-ch sound) ... usually it squeals then does the tap thing for anywhere from a couple seconds to a few minutes until it goes away. Theres no rhyme or reason or pattern. It will happen at any speed & whether I am turning or just driving in a straight line. It does it when it wants to & comes & goes how it pleases. Its extremely variable. I havent noticed any problems while driving it though either as far as vibrations or sway. And the noises will remain even after applying the brakes. Only thing I have noticed is that its more persistant from about 45mph & under. But it happens at any speed. Any thoughts?

    Thanks for any help!!

    1. Bank 2 Sensor 2 would be on the drivers side after the first cat.

    2. Could be any number of things really. I'd pull the RR wheel and inspect the brakes, wouldn't hurt to pop the rotor off and make sure the parking brake shoes are still intact.

Pulled the right rear off finally. As soon as I took the rotor off, the parking brake came off in 2 rotted strips & a spring at the bottom was laying inbetween the guard & the hub that i pulled off. I guess that explains the noises. thanks!
