i posted a thread on what i thought to be a vent tube hose, but i have not discovered that i have an extremely minuscule leak near the bottom/front of my drivers side tank strap on my 01 GM. my mechanic quoted my THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS for a replacement tank, and 280 for labor. so i have looked into a quick-fix sealer type of putty/resin/goop to temporarily fix it. anyone ever use a material like this and have any recommendations or have a bad experience with anything? on another note, 350 sounds like allot for just the tank.

I have used every type of gas tank sealer. I have also applied fiberglass matting over these repairs in an attempt to make them last longer. Best results are to completely dry and lightly sand the area. Place the tank repair putty as directed. Then place three (increasingly larger) fiberglass patches over the repair. I've had these types of repairs hold for many years. If your tank is rusting from the inside out, other holes will soon appear. The only "hard" tank replacement job is your first one. After you've done a few, you can do one in an hour or hour and a half.
