    01' Town Car transmission slipping

when i'm cruisin between 40&55 and go up a small incline, or flat surface even, the transmission slips, like it cant decide to go to 3rd or O/D. its the 4R70W. i know someone posted about this before but he had the check engine light on, i dont. i plug in the code reader to see if anything comes up but nothing does. anyone have any idea what it could be? it used to do it every once in a while but it has gotten more frequent the past week

Check fluid level? Is it only between 40 and 55? If you turn O/D off at those speeds, does it behave normally?

fluid level is where it should be and is clean. if i take o/d off it behaves just fine, its only when o/d is on. its only between 40 & 55 and if i'm holding steady, if i'm accelerating it has no problem

Sounds like maybe a line pressure issue. How long since your last fluid and filter change?

I'm seconding torque converter shudder, the 4.6s were known for having it, I have it in my '99. It's like a fast duhduhduhduhduh on upshift? around those speeds. Mechanic dumped a can of shudder quiet or whatever it is in, helped for awhile, getting worse now.

Have used a bottle of Ford Limited Slip Diff liquid in my '95 GM and so far (over a year) I no longer feel the shudder. May be worth a shot.....

do you mix it with the tranny fluid or just put it in by itself?
