You mean rear axle gears? There should be a code on the door sticker under the spot where it says "AX", and with the service manual, you can decode it. Otherwise, there should be a tag under one of the rear cover bolts that will have it. If it's a 2.73:1, it'll look like 2 73 for an open rear end, or 2L73 for a limited slip. 3.08:1 will be 3 08 or 3L08, etc.

And the best place,But with your cars age....Check the differential cover. Look for a tag on the passanger side.It will be held in by a bolt.
