per my 1986 shop manual, it specifies an 11" drum for all station wagons, police, taxi, and trailer tow vehicles. The 10" drum is for "sedan, except police, taxi, and trailer tow"

Exactly why Boxman's old wagon has 10" brakes is unknown. I almost wonder if someone didn't grenade the rear and slap a sedan rear in there at some point.

The max wear figures are stamped into the outer rim of the drum. Pull the wheel and you'll find it. It'll be 10.xxx or 11.xxx.

11" rear drums stop the car much better. My '88 had 11" rear drums. I noticed the difference between the two the first time I drove my '90.

With my trak lok install, I may be swapping the rears altogether (easier to rebuild the rear out of the car, then install), in which case an 11" brake rear will be going in.

Good to know that there is a noticeable difference between the two.

and you're sure that rear has never been replaced?

back to what I said about shit not making sense or being consistent. My 1986 manuals indicate that the 86 Vic/GM/LTC is a CFI car too so who knows.
