The traction control sucks on my 95 GM. Kills forward momentum right when its needed most when accelerating in the snow. Shit, it literally stops the car sometimes. Brake traction control sucks.

I think 92 thru 97 used brake traction control. And there is no override button for those years. I could do without the system.

Yay for no ABS, traction control, airbags, or other safety functions. I'd not want brake traction control, at least not that I couldn't disable. I imagine it must suck in the snow like you said.

I have no switch to turn TC on and off in my 1992 CrownVic so I cut the power wire in the hood that fead the traction assist motor(under the air box). now I can burn some major rubber to bbad its only one wheel spining

LOL...you mean you cut the ABS pump motor wire, which is what powers the traction assist on that year as well as my 95. Now you have no ABS, if that matters to you.

It does one of a couple things
                          1. Shifts into 2nd gear, to prevent you from spinning more..
                          2. Lets up on the throttle, ECM controlled.

                          Thats all.

There are two types of systems

ETA Electronic Traction Assist 92 - 97?? ABS equipped cars had this as an extra option. This is the sucky non-defeatable version that uses the brakes and ABS HCU to slow the spinning wheel.

The 98? up TCS works like Tom outlined no brake application. Also has the Trac control light that flashes when the system kicks on.

I find that you can't drive in snow with traction control on. The car just bogs down and won't go.

I thought about maybe rigging a switch inline with the brake light switch so I can turn it off if I get stuck or can't get up a hill. When the brake lights are activated, the system shuts off. I tried just pushing on the brake pedal lightly when the system was activating unwanted but its a pain to make it work.

Another thing I thought about doing was to find a junk panther that came with a trac lock rear end and yanking the ABS module from it. Ones with trac lock DID NOT come with traction control programmed into the ABS unit. And I eventualy want to put a trac lock unit in the rear end.

YEah I know I have no ABS now but my car burns alot of rubber . Not goona leave it that way i'll bypass that cable to a swithc inside so I can turn it on and off when I want too.
