I think the cheapest and easiest route is buy a Marauder and mod it - Probably be in a bit of $$ to a Town Car before I basically converted it into a Town Marauder. Marauder engine and supporting mods, brakes, supension etc
What can a decent example of a Marauder be had for?

+500 .... far cheaper and easier way to bolt in 300 horsepower.
Only reason not to would be if you're stuck with California smog laws, your car is newer than 1999, and you can't convince the goons that an Explorer was a car and not a truck. Or if you're just plain afraid of doing things the way that works.
Just go for a 351/400 with a 5 speed. That'd be awesome in a Town Car whale. Or a big block (429/460cu.) just like a 70's Lincoln! I'm sure a 460 would fit in a whale the mod engines are bigger than shit as it is.

I will agree with you about the big motors fitting because the DOHCs are retarded huge.
At car shows i get "Is that a 460?"
just because it says 4.6 on the valve covers doesn't make it a 460.
But it would be totally bad ass to see a 460 in a whale!!

I'm keeping this in mind for when i have some spare cash, time and equipment to make it happen. 92-95 Town Car (Wisconsin emissions are only for OBDII vehicles) and put a 460 with a C6 or 5 speed manual in it.

How could anyone possibly consfuse a 460 with a DOHC? And who would think 4.6L has anything to do with 460 cubic inches other than sharing the manufacturer and number of cylinders?
2012 Mazda5 Touring | Finally working on the LTD again!
It's just a very tall motor. And all the older car guys are used to seeing V-8s with DOHC.
I could maybe understand a little bit, sicne they're from the era of 427/460s being stock in a Ford.
Interesting .... so then they might not know about pushrod Panthers going byebye in '92 or that Windsors are the only pushrod Ford motor most people consider worth building these days? (except of course, looney resto goons who enjoy spending megabucks on outdated bone-stock engines)
