while a 4v valve looks alot wider than a 2v, it isnt

if you look at a 2v in a 96-04 mustang, you'll understand, that you cant fit anything wider in there, and those cars came with 4v's also

oh god yes. thats why the 5.4 4v's dont fit. They're too tall.
To even put the ford gt heads on the 4.6 4v requires extensive modification to the wiper tray and the hood. because they will not fit under a stock hood.
The one guy i know with a marauder that did that had a sweet 2.5" steel cowl hood made. It looked like the stock hood, except it buldged a little more. And the only way you could tell that it wasn't stock was to park it next to another marauder/whale.

If you were going to go with a Mark VIII engine swap why not just spend the extra quid and go with a SVT engine? Or can the aluminum 6 bolt main block from a Mark VIII be built to make the same hp? I don't know, I am trying to figure out what would be better myself

The SVT Cobra motors are roughly $4000 used. Mk8's are about $150 at the jyard.

for what it costs to port PI heads, Im not sure its worth it, they only pick up about 15hp ported

PI heads themselves are good upgrade over npi's
