It's not the same size motor. The Mark VIII and Marauder used the dual overhead cam V8, whereas the Panthers use the single overhead cam engine. The DOHC is physically larger, and far from a bolt-in swap.

Also, early 4.6 SOHC motors and I think all of the Mark VIII DOHCs used a Windsor bellhousing bolt-pattern (so-called ",bastard block") versus the Modular-specific one that came out somewhere around '95. Marauder motors would probably lack this difficulty, but good luck finding one for cheap.

yes. they are exceptionally tall. One guy on the MM forums did it on his 95 MGM. he had a difficult time with the firewall and the wiper tray. But, that ride is now Vortech'd.

My favorite car show question is
          "That's a 460, isn't it?"
          "Nope, 281"
          "That's it?"

My whale sounded great with the dual x-pipe w/ all the cats and no mufflers. I took two cats out and kept it no mufflers and put 3 inch tail pipes on. It sounds good, but gets a little too snappy at higher RPMs. I'm thinking glasspacks.

If you want it to sound good cheaply stay away from magnaflows and flowmasters. Mags sound good, I dont like the sound of flows, and either way have fun spending around $150 for a pair.

And damn if I had $2600 i'd have a turbo Grand Marq.

Ik from the get go that I wouldn't have a superfast car. But it's like a ferrari compared to my old Volvo 240 and current 1985 VW Vanagon...

The way I plan on gettin a bit more speed. Is 3.55 gears (instead of my 2.73), programer, PI manifold/intake, and throttle body. Ik it wont be much, but it will be some... All I need is the money...

So then what did they put in the Lincoln Mark VIII that ViperGTS was able to bolt a regular AOD up to?

You can get trans adaptors for anything. I think you can even get an adaptor to hook a Cummins diesel to a TH350 trans. So I'm sure a Mod to AOD isn't hard to find.

True, true ... I'd have to check with torquelover again, but I'm pretty sure ViperGTS bolted his right up.

To generalize that even further, you can fit anything into anything if you have a big enough hammer.

It was a mess, and a long story, but it was and AOD-E that went into the MK8. A direct bolt-in, however a driveshaft spacer (from Steeda) was required.

This was slightly comical as the trans somewhat negated the 3.73 RAR that was installed just prior to the 3rd trans swap.
